You should bring your child in for a dental exam and cleaning:

In their first year of life, after the eruption of their first tooth or no later than their first birthday
Every 6-9 months after their first visit

What to Expect During a Visit

During your child’s dental exam, we encourage you or your child to ask questions. As well, our team will work with you to create a relaxed and enjoyable experience for your child.

Initial Discussion

Before we begin any dental exam and cleaning, we like to take time to ask you and your child about their medical and dental history and see if there are any problems they have been experiencing. This friendly initial discussion can help children feel more comfortable and safe with us.

Dental Exam

During the dental exam, we will evaluate your child’s oral health and we may discuss the pros and cons of X-rays specific to your child’s needs.

The Cleaning

The cleaning portion of your child’s visit helps to reduce the plaque and tartar buildup on their teeth. To do this, our team may scale, polish, floss, and apply a fluoride treatment as appropriate to your child’s teeth.
